The Trent University Athletic Centre pool was constructed in 1978. Since then it has undergone several upgrades to renew and lengthen its lifespan. Most recently, in 2018 there was a major renovation to the mechanical room to upgrade the filtration system. Leaking in the old pool piping and shell led to the pool being closed.

In a survey of post-secondary athletics facilities, Aquatic Associates came highly recommended for their expert knowledge in pool mechanics. Given the urgency of the situation, Trent contacted Aquatic Associates to begin a lifecycle and structural assessment of the pool. This assessment included the following:

A.      Define Pool Characteristics – design, gallons, flow rate, structural integrity, lifespan

B.      Legislative Context – code requirements, what will be required to bring Trent to code (cost), what will be added to the lifespan

C.      Structural Assessment – Outcome of leaks, lifecycle, repairs needed

D.      Conclusion – analysis findings, options, high-level costing, and timing

A final report has been presented to Trent University, it is currently being reviewed to determine the next steps to getting the pool re-ope
