Swimming pool operation is one of the highest risk and highest regulated recreation services. Pool operators must demonstrate competencies and skills in operating Class A and Class B swimming pools in Ontario.
Aquatic Associates is affiliated with the Lifesaving Society, Ontario. Certified Instructors deliver the programs to the standards established by the Lifesaving Society Canada.

POOL OPERATOR LEVEL 1
The Lifesaving Society’s Pool Operator Level 1 course blends safety management with the essential knowledge of facility operation. The course provides pool operators with the knowledge and resources to operate and maintain safe swimming pools in accordance with provincial health regulations and includes:
an understanding of the various types of pools and the impact of maintenance planning.
knowledge of the principle contaminants of water and the applications of water treatment to pool and spa systems for both Class A and B pools.
a practical, hands-on approach for solving typical water treatment problems.
the implications of Recreation Water Illness and concepts underlying pool air quality.

POOL OPERATOR LEVEL 2
The Lifesaving Society’s Pool Operator Level 2 focuses on regulatory standards for pool operation and chemical application principles in order to maintain balanced swimming pool water. Participants learn to problem solve and how to safely adjust swimming pool chemical levels in order to maintain a healthy and safe environment for bathers and staff. The course includes:
a through review of regulatory requirements and standards for the operation of aquatic facilities including: pools, spas, wading pools, and waterfronts
a review of the principles of balanced pool water and the step-by-step procedures pool operators should follow when making adjustments to chemical levels in aquatic facilities
an open forum for discussion and resolution of problems facing pool operators
Prerequisite: Lifesaving Society Pool Operator Level 1 or equivalent.

Aquatic Supervisor
For deck-level supervisory staff, this 10 hour course provides the knowledge and skills (beyond National Lifeguard certification) to manage a safe aquatic environment
PREREQUISITE:
National Lifeguard or Lifesaving Society Instructor (Swim or Lifesaving) certifications and 100 hours experience as a lifeguard and/or instructor

For recreation professionals responsible for overseeing the operation of aquatic facilities, this 10 hour training program provides the knowledge required to provide a safe aquatic environment

first aid training
Standard First Aid provides comprehensive training covering all aspects of first aid and CPR. Standard First Aid incorporates all of Emergency First Aid and is designed for those who require a more in-depth understanding of first aid including: legal implications of first aid treatment, spinal injuries, heat or cold injuries, bone and joint injuries, chest injuries, and medical emergencies. Includes CPR-C certification.
The first aid program is not restricted to aquatic candidates. You can use the Lifesaving Society's first aid awards to train non-aquatic staff (camp, playground, maintenance, etc.) and the general public.

Recertification: Current Standard First Aid (SFA) award holders may recertify their Lifesaving Society SFA certification just once on a Lifesaving Society SFA Recertification Course not more than 3 years from the Standard First Aid date of issue. To renew SFA certifications subsequently, award holders must repeat the full SFA Course. Thereafter, individuals may renew by alternating recertifications and original courses.
Holders of Standard First Aid certificates from other agencies may not recertify their certificate on a Lifesaving Society recertification course. They may recertify only with the original certifying agency.
