AQUATIC FACILITY DESIGN/CONSULTING:

2009 – Present – Principal RecTec Management Group Inc – Pool Consulting

Responsible for all aspects of facility design and consulting on commercial public and private aquatic facilities on behalf of RecTec. Generally through a Project Team completed work in areas of Aquatic amenity Identification, Budgeting, Conceptual Design, Existing Facility Upgrades, Specification Writing, Drawings Generation, Tenders and Construction supervision and administration.

Customers Include: ZAS Architects, B+H Architects, WGA Architects, The Mitchell Partnership, City of Toronto, City of Winnipeg to name a few.

 

AQUATIC SPORT TIMING:

2006 – Present – President RecTec Management Group

Responsible for all aspects of electronic timing system design, consulting, sales and service for Central Canada.

Sport Timing Customers: Swim Canada, , Swim Ontario, Water Polo Canada, Water Polo Ontario, Master Swimming Ontario, Eswim to name a few.

 

AQUATIC FACILITY OPERATIONS

1999 – 2005 – General Manager – Facility Operations – Superior Pool

A private aquatic facility operations company Tim was responsible for overseeing the operations and training of 25 Indoor Recreations Centres and over 100 outdoor pools in the summer months throughout the Greater Toronto Area.  Staff complement in the summer was 8 Aquatic Supervisors, 4 Assistance Aquatic Supervisors, 35 Recreation Staff along with over 500 Lifeguards.  Responsibilities included, Staff Hiring, Training, Supervision, Payroll and Budget.  Also oversaw the mechanical operations of the facilities, completed inspections of the amenities, reported finding to the customer and oversaw any repairs.

 

1994-1999 – Facility Operations Manager – City of Toronto – Etobicoke Olympium

In this role at the facility Tim was responsible for the overall maintenance and operations of the facility.   Including managing 10 plus unionized facility operators, a multi-million dollar budget, oversaw all repairs and maintenance, payroll, coordinated capital repairs and dealt with public concerns.  

 

1989 – 1994 – Aquatic Facilities Manager – City of Toronto – Etobicoke Olympium

At the time considered one of Canada’s largest and busiest competition pools and in 1991-93 was rated by Omega Electronics as the busiest pool in the world for swimming competitions hosting 40 plus comp swimming events per year.  In this role Tim was responsible for all aspects of the 2 pools in the facility, 1 – 50m 8 lane competition pool and a 6 lane 25-yard teaching pool.  Oversaw the facility and staff operations with over 15 Aquatic Supervisors and 100 Lifeguards.  Responsibilities included, Staff Hiring, Training, Supervision, Payroll and Budget.

Through both positions at the Olympium Tim was responsible for the facilitation of all major Aquatic Swimming Competition including 2 Swimming Olympic Trials, 6 National Swimming Championships, 3 Diving National Championships, 4 Synchro Swim Nationals and 4 Water Polo National Championships.  Coordination also included a number of speciality rentals including filming for movies and commercials, airline training programs, fire department training programs, Water expo shows, etc.

Patrick D’Almada

In his 40-year career in aquatics, Patrick has earned the respect of the aquatic, lifesaving and lifeguard sector across Ontario, Canada and internationally. Patrick has managed swimming pools across the City of Toronto, and the Greater Toronto Area, has over 10 years of senior municipal management experience most recently as a Director of Parks, Recreation and Culture. Patrick has been a project sponsor for Master Plans and Feasibility Studies related to aquatic, splash pad and recreation facilities, parks and trail design and development. He has led public consultations related to Strategic Plans, Feasibility Studies, Needs Assessments, Master Plans, Program Plans and annual priority plans. He has also developed and implemented User Fee Models, Business Plans, and capital and operating budget projections for multi-use recreation facilities, with a focus on swimming pool, fitness centre and ice arena operation and levels of service delivery.

Patrick is a Lifesaving Society Canada certified National Trainer, Chief Aquatic Safety Auditor, Certified Pool Operator, Aquatic Supervisor and lifeguard trainer. Patrick has been training aquatic personnel at all levels for over 25 years, specializing in pool, waterfront and surf environments. He has led aquatic safety audits for a range of municipal swimming pools, supervised and unsupervised waterfronts, as well as Canadian Forces Bases across Canada.

Patrick holds a Bachelor of Administrative Studies degree from York University, Toronto, and a Master of Public Administration Degree from Western University, London, Ontario. Patrick also holds certificates in municipal management, marketing management and urban planning.

Patrick has been a volunteer with the Lifesaving Society Ontario for 30 years holding a range of positions including President from 2008-2010 during its 100th Anniversary celebration.

Patrick has also been involved as a volunteer with Lifesaving Society Canada for over 10 years holding positions of National Safety Standards Commissioner, International Development Coordinator, and International Relations Committee Chair. 

Patrick’s political acuity, diplomacy and collaborative approach have enabled him to be work successfully with community stakeholders to achieve their strategic objectives.
