Fresh Water Aquariums
When
we talk about Fresh Water Aquariums, we mean fish from tropical
fresh waters that live well in temperatures between 72 and 78 degrees
F, as well as goldfish and other cold water species.
There are several reasons to select a fresh water aquarium:
- They require service only once a month
- They can do well with a relatively simple filtration system
- They are usually less expensive than salt water aquariums
- They provide the gentle, relaxing beautiful movements of the
fish and the swaying plants that are so beneficial in today’s
super-hectic society.
- If planned ahead, they can be upgraded to salt water in the
future.
- They can be set up and stocked quickly (completely installed
in a pre-built cabinet in one day) once all of the hardgoods have
been acquired.
- They can be installed where space is a premium. We usually recommend
a minimum of a 55 gallon aquarium for salt water.
One
surgeon wanted a salt water aquarium for his office, but the time-line
of the grand opening would not allow for a fully-stocked salt water
aquarium. We set the aquarium up with fancy goldfish imported from
China for the office opening. He liked them so much, he kept
these exotic goldfish – and the staff named every one
of them and their babies.
